The future:
We recognize that churches all over the world will continue to need and want resources that are actually used and implemented within a local congregation. We are committed to creating, testing, implementing, and sharing these resources as they become available. We also recognize that the future of church resources is not in print form. Hymnals and books will not be the primary delivery mode in the future and we are changing our delivery systems to be primarily downloadable files that can be copied, changed, and adapted for your use. Our primary resource is the weekly "toolkit" and we highly recommend it as the primary congregational planning resource for any church leaders not wanting to start from scratch. We will continue to offer new downloadable resources as they become available in our "other resources" part of the website.
A brief history:
Prince of Peace Publishing was formed as an outreach ministry of Prince of Peace in 1985. Pastor Mervin Thompson and the leadership at Prince of Peace believed that God was calling us to share our ministry with the greater church. He saw that people and society were changing, but the church was not changing with society. In order for the greater church to grow into the future, we needed to focus on leadership development. The primary focus for this ministry became the creation and formation of alternative resources for church leaders across the country. In 1991, Prince of Peace held its first national Changing Church in a Changing World Conference for church leaders. The same year, Changing Church Forum, a non-profit leadership center, was established as a separate 501(c)(3). Shortly after this first national conference, the Genesis Bookstore was opened to be a resource center and ministry for Prince of Peace as well as for church leaders. The two organizations were merged in June 1993 to create Changing Church Forum, Inc. Recently, Changing Church Forum had focused on consulting as the primary pathway to change within a church. However, in difficult economic times and a highly competitive marketplace this was not financially feasible. Changing Church Forum has and always will be an outward expression of the mission and ministry of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
